Ruswil - CKW has started constructing a measurement mast for the windfarm planned on Ruswilerberg in the canton of Lucerne. The devices and sensors on the 100-metre high mast will record data on wind and weather, as well as the activity of bats in the region.

CKW began construction of a measurement mast on Ruswilerberg on 13 May, according to a statement. The mast carries anemometers at 60, 80 and 100 meters that measure the wind. At heights of 60 and 100 meters, ultrasonic sensors measure the sounds of bats flying by. The sensors at the top measure temperatures and humidity.

The measurements will be taken for at least one year. They are intended to check the existing wind and weather data, helping to ensure the economic viability of the planned wind farm. At the same time, they are designed to help minimize the windfarm’s impact on people, animals and the environment.

CKW is planning a windfarm with five turbines on Ruswilerberg. stk
