Firmenich opens pilot plant in California

Firmenich will develop new food and drinks at its recently inaugurated Taste & Beyond Pilot Plant in Anaheim, California, in collaboration with innovative companies. According to a press release, the modern facility hosts a full range of capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment specifically designed to enhance collaboration.
The plant is an important part of Firmenich’s commitment to create enjoyable eating and drinking experiences that are healthier and more sustainable. It was designed to turn around multiple prototypes and create small scale application samples in a short period of time.
At this plant, Firmenich combines its expertise in plant-based proteins and nutrition products as a “powerful combination”, said Sherry Xian Linert, Vice President of Firmenich West Coast Ventures. This “enables us to help customers innovate quickly to win in a highly competitive market”.
Firmenich has long invested in its West Coast operations and established a dedicated business unit in Anaheim five years ago, as Chris Perkins, President of Taste & Beyond North America, explained. “Following the very successful opening of our Innovation Center last year, our fully-equipped Pilot Plant is a powerful next step in our vision for the West Coast.”
