Switzerland seeking to strengthen ties with Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek/Bern - A high-level delegation from Switzerland visited Kyrgyzstan at the start of March. The focus of this trip was to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries. Moreover, the delegation found out all about Swiss-funded projects in the country.

On March 7, a high-level Swiss delegation landed in Kyrgyzstan, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the Swiss Embassy located in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. The delegation consisted of Ambassador Patricia Danzi, Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and Ambassador Dominique Paravicini, Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development division and Federal Council delegate for trade agreements at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), who met with representatives of the Kyrgyz government

The primary aim of the trip was to strengthen ties with Kyrgyzstan. However, the delegation was also keen to learn about the challenges facing the landlocked Central Asian country. Other topics covered during the meeting included economic development, bilateral trade and investment.

Danzi and Paravicini also found out about the status of several projects that Switzerland is funding in Kyrgyzstan. These are focused on areas such as tourism, water and healthcare.
