Based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, the window manufacturer smartwindows has been awarded an eco1 certification for its range of plastic windows sold under the name “classico”. According to a press release, this is the first and so far only window in Switzerland to have been awarded this certification. The press release explains further that the plastic windows are the result of the company’s efforts to implement construction plans and projects with a particular emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly approaches.

The advantages of the “classico” designed by smartwindows include the high proportion (70 percent) of recyclates used in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the raw material is reused up to eight times. The windows meet the stringent ecobau and Minergie-Eco requirements, while also complying with the first priority of ecoBKP and ecoDevis. According to the press release, installation of the classico plastic windows contributes to sustainably designed, well thought-out and higher-quality buildings, which offer a long service life. The result is rooms with a healthy indoor climate that lead to reductions in CO2, gray energy and pollutant emissions. In this context, the company writes in the press release, the windows play a leading role. ce/ww
