St.Gallen/Rorschach - A new site has been found for the Rorschach outpatient clinic, from which outpatient healthcare services in the Neuseeland/Rorschacherberg district will be coordinated. From the end of 2024, the new site will offer a comprehensive range of medical services.

The city of Rorschach, the canton of St.Gallen and the investment arm of the Cantonal Hospital of St.Gallen (KSSG) have agreed to establish a new outpatient center. After a long search, a suitable building has now been found in which the new center can be housed. According to a press release, the complex is set to be situated in the Neuseeland/Rorschacherberg district, which directly borders on Rorschach, and should be fully operational by the end of 2024. At this point, the outpatient service providers, which maintain a three-pronged focus on oncology outpatient clinics, gastroenterology and cardiology, will be relocated to the new facility. Outpatient consultations will also be offered at the clinics for general, visceral, endocrine and transplant surgery, orthopedics and traumatology, as well as urology and the clinic for plastic surgery and hand surgery.

As the new outpatient clinic will not have sufficient space for hemodialysis, the decision has been made to merge these services into the hemodialysis department at the St.Gallen site. This process is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2024, according to the press release.

For radiological diagnostic clarifications, the Radiology Network of the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at KSSG in Rorschach offers comprehensive radiology services housed in the Regatron building. In addition to current MR and PET-CT examinations, computer tomography and fully digital conventional X-ray diagnostics will now also be offered.

At present, KSSG is still making use of the property belonging to the former Rorschach Hospital. It remains to be seen exactly how this building will be used from 2025 onwards, with discussions between the canton, the city of Rorschach and the investment arm of KSSG still ongoing. ce/ww
