ABB set to acquire the Seam Group in the USA

Zurich/Beachwood - The Ohio-based Seam Group is the latest acquisition of the electrification and automation technology leader ABB. With the addition of 3,000 customer sites across the USA, Asia and Europe, the Electrification Service division of ABB will now be in a position to expand its industrial asset management services.

ABB has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the Seam Group in North America. No financial details pertaining to the transaction have been disclosed. The acquisition expands the range of services offered by the ABB Electrification Service division. The supplier of management and consulting services in connection with energized assets for industrial and commercial construction customers operates approximately 3,000 customer sites.

Moreover, the company, which is based in Beachwood in the US State of Ohio, boasts a strong market position in high-growth segments such as commercial buildings, data centers, healthcare, manufacturing and renewables including charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by ABB. The Seam Group operates additional locations in Indianapolis, Hong Kong and Warsaw. It employs just under 250 employees and supports more than one million energized assets for over 800 active clients

“This acquisition is part of our ongoing strategy to create a new force in electrification service, broadening our offering and footprint in the USA”, comments Stuart Thompson, Division President, ABB Electrification Service, in the press release. He adds: “By sharpening our approach in one of our key markets, we will be able to offer customers complete asset lifecycle management services, while expanding our field service coverage across North America”. ce/mm
