Plan-les-Ouates - DEASYL is opening a subsidiary in the Middle East. The biotech company intends to become a catalyst for positive changes in the chemical industry within the region. It focuses specifically on the manufacture of biolubricants, biodiesel, and solketal.

DEASYL has opened a subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and of the United Arab Emirates. The company focusing on sustainable, biobased chemicals had already announced in January 2023 that it would be constructing a demo plant there for its innovative and patented solution to valorize glycerin, a by-product of biodiesel.

According to a new statement from DEASYL, this strategic step of establishing a presence in Abu Dhabi aims to promote local activities “that focus on a green, sustainable future”. DEASYL Middle East specializes in biolubricants, biodiesel, and the valorization of glycerin into solketal or triacetin.

Production of the harmless, sustainable solvent solketal provides the company with the opportunity to prove its commitment to sustainability through innovative solutions. Solketal can be tailored to specific requirements and can be used in a wide range of areas, from pharmaceuticals, paints, and coatings to textiles, cosmetics, as well as the food and drink industries.

According to DEASYL, the trend within the industry goes toward decreasing the burden on the environment and dependence on petrochemicals. As such, the company from the canton of Geneva views the Middle East as an emerging market for its biobased, sustainable chemicals.

DEASYL features among the Swiss companies that will be presenting at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. This will take place from April 16 to 18. ce/mm
