Zurich - The engineering and consulting firm Helbling is launching Helbling Venture Challenge, an international startup competition that actively supports product development. The first edition is focusing on the medical sector.

The first round of the new startup competition organized by the engineering and consulting firm Helbling started on 5 March 2024. The Helbling Venture Challenge (HVC) is run by the technology division Helbling Technik, which cooperates with the startup promoter Venturelab. Startup companies whose innovations are related to devices or device-related applications can register until 21 April. The thematic focus changes from year to year, and is kicking off with medtech, diagnostics, laboratory systems and pharmaceutical production.

HVC Program Manager Nicolas Schärer explains: "If your startup is pioneering in areas that align with the verticals selected for 2024, we want to hear from you. Whether it's a cutting-edge medtech device or a breakthrough in diagnostics equipment, your idea has the potential to reshape the industry." Nicolas Schärer is a member of the Executive Board and a partner at Helbing. He emphasizes that as a leading company in the field of technology and product innovation, Helbling Technik wants to give startups the opportunity to drive their product development forward.

With this in mind, the challenge aims to collaborate with startups: the 2024 focus corresponds to key areas of innovation at Helbling Technik. The prize for the challenge is a consulting package for product development worth 25,000 Swiss francs. This can be redeemed at one of Helbling's international locations: in Switzerland, in Boston and San Diego in the USA, or in Munich, Germany.

According to the program, the 15 most promising startups will be invited to a Tech Challenge after the registration deadline, where they can present their technical solution to Helbling experts. The best five will compete against each other on 13 September. ce/yvh
