Holcim has signed an agreement to acquire Duro-Last Roofing Systems, a company based in the US State of Michigan. According to a press release issued by Holcim, the company is a leading supplier of commercial roofing systems. Its 840 employees generate pro forma net sales of 540 million US dollars and double-digit growth. Holcim plans to further strengthen the brand and expects to generate synergies to the tune of 60 million US dollars per year from this acquisition.
According to the information available, the transaction is valued at 1,293 million US dollars, with earnings per share (EPS) set to rise from the first year. Following this acquisition, Holcim expects to exceed its net sales target of 4 billion US dollars for its roofing systems business ahead of schedule.
The Zug-based construction materials manufacturer describes Duro-Last as a pioneer in the area of green construction. The company’s systems range from cold roofs, which improve the energy efficiency of buildings, to the award-winning Recycle Your Roof program, which promotes the circular economy. In addition, Duro-Last is the first company in the USA to provide environmental certification from independent organizations for its thermoplastic roofing solutions.
Holcim CEO Jan Jenisch describes Duro-Last as a “perfect strategic fit” for the company’s own roofing business: “Its energy-efficient systems and excellence in recycling will further advance our leadership in sustainability”, he concludes. mm
