ABB electrifies ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India cold-rolling mill

ABB has received an order for the delivery of electrification and automation systems for the modern steel cold-rolling mill at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) in Hazira in the Indian state of Gujurat. According to a press release from the Zurich-based technology company, the order was issued via the original equipment manufacturer John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL). AM/NS India is a joint venture between two leading global steel companies: ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. It is building the mill within its expansion plan. The new factory is expected to be put into operation in 2024. AM/NS India has a crude steel capacity of 9 million metric tons per year.

According to the company press release, ABB will provide the ABB Ability System 800xA Distributed Control System (DCS) and the associated devices and components, among other things, to ensure improved energy efficiency, optimized zinc consumption, and a high level of corrosion resistance across the entire steel production process.
