Acino has signed a freight forwarding agreement with AD Ports Logistics from Abu Dhabi, announced a statement. The agreement will see the logistics company transport medications from Zurich-based pharmaceutical company Acino’s locations of origin to markets in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Under the terms of the agreement, the scope of AD Ports Logistics’ freight forwarding services will include first-mile transport, seaport and airport loading, customs clearance, and final-mile logistics. The company will use its Good Distribution Practices (GDP)-certified end-to-end cold chain solutions.
“Our collaboration with AD Ports Group strengthens our commitment to the MENA region, expanding outreach and improving patient access to quality healthcare,” commented Andrew Bird, Interim CEO, Acino. Farook Al Zeer, Chairman, Logistics Cluster, AD Ports Group, described the agreement as a “significant development opportunity” for the Healthcare & Lifesciences division of the logistics specialist.
Acino delivers products in the fields of gastroenterology, cardiology and pain relief, among others. The company is present in more than 90 countries. In 2021, it was acquired by the holding company ADQ, a sovereign wealth fund of Abu Dhabi. Acino's headquarters remain in Zurich. ce/ssp
