Basel - The Servetia initiative aims to support Swiss businesses in their efforts to become more energy efficient through servitization. The BASE model shifts the focus from owning energy systems to using the services they provide.

The Servetia initiative from BASE (Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy) in partnership with E4S (Entreprise for Society) seeks to empower Swiss businesses with energy efficiency through a servitization model, further details of which can be found in a press release. Energy costs have a significant impact on the profitability of businesses, which makes energy efficiency a key opportunity to exploit, the press release explains. By optimizing their energy consumption, companies can not only reduce costs, but also minimize their carbon footprint, achieve sustainability goals and prepare for future energy regulations

Servetia presents an innovative approach with the aim of coping with these challenges through servitization. The underlying model, which can also be referred to as Energy Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS), shifts the focus from owning energy systems to using the services they provide, such as heating and cooling, without the need for capital investments. The solutions provider remains the owner of the systems and is responsible for implementation, operation, maintenance and upgrades.

In partnership with BASE, the Enterprise for Society Center (E4S), and thanks to the support of the Fondation Valéry, Servetia is able to provide access to these cutting-edge technologies. By leveraging BASE's extensive experience, tools such as standardized contracts and financial analyses have been developed to support the introduction of the model.

Over the past 12 months, Servetia has built up a network of partners comprising solutions providers (of energy technologies, measurement technologies and digitalization, for example), financiers, public institutions, and businesses, with the aim of exploiting the full potential of servitization across Switzerland. ce/gba
