Beginning on October 1, 2021, Expo Dubai will provide an opportunity to “position Switzerland and promote its economy in the United Arab Emirates”, according to a press release issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). The press release also describes the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as Switzerland’s most important trading partner in the region. Expo Dubai provides a platform for exchange to the 190 participating countries.
The Swiss pavilion for the world exposition with the theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ has now been completed, the FDFA explains further in the press release. “Our little piece of Switzerland at the expo is ready for a big show in Dubai”, comments Ambassador Nicolas Bideau, head of Presence Switzerland, in the press release. “In these difficult times for our export economy, our pavilion aims to be a symbol and driving force for the recovery we all need”.
The Swiss pavilion has been designed as a cubic structure covering an area of around 2,000 square meters. It aims to “immerse visitors in a story of Switzerland”, the FDFA writes, and will present impressions of an Alpine landscape in addition to a model of a hyperconnected Swiss city. The final part of this immersive tour experience will include exhibitions on Switzerland’s role as a center of innovation.
