Zurich/Dubai/Abu Dhabi - The pharmaceutical firm Acino has agreed a takeover of the Dubai-based Pharmax Pharmaceuticals. The company employs more than 100 staff and has at its disposal a modern production facility for medication in a wide range of dosage forms.

Acino, a pharmaceutical firm headquartered in Zurich, has announced the integration of Pharmax Pharmaceuticals, further details of which can be found in a press release. The Dubai-based manufacturer and distributor of high-quality medications employs more than 100 staff and operates a modern manufacturing facility for the production of tablets, capsules, inhalers, injectables and topicals.

The facility meets the quality standards required in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the European Union. This complements Acino’s operational capabilities and expands its growing international footprint. Both companies are owned by ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company.

“With this change, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of the rapidly expanding pharmaceutical market in the UAE”, explains Andrew Bird, Head of the Middle East, Turkey and Africa Region at Acino. “Our combined expertise alongside the support of ADQ will enable us to contribute to the UAE’s efforts of becoming a leading pharmaceutical hub and tap into the great potential of the region”, he adds. According to a whitepaper, ADQ expects the pharma market in the UAE to grow by 27 percent in the period between 2021 and 2025. mm
