Winterthur - The automotive supplier Autoneum has drawn up plans to expand its business presence in the Asian market. To this end, the company will be opening two new production facilities in China and India.

Autoneum, a global automotive supplier based in Winterthur, is seeking to expand its footprint in the profitable Asian markets. To this end, two new plants are set to be opened in Jilin province in China and Pune, a city in western India, further details of which can be found in a press release. In expanding its production capacities, the company is aiming to be active on the ground in these consistently growing markets. For example, the new plant in Jilin province is located in one of the world’s largest automobile production centers. The specialist for acoustic and thermal management solutions for vehicles will operate the new production facility, which covers an area of 5,000 square meters, as a joint venture. Production activities here are due to commence from the end of 2024, the press release explains.

In Pune in western India, Autoneum will begin production of carpet systems, interior trim, wheelhouse outer liners, e-motor covers and other noise protection components in the second quarter of 2024. This site spans an area of 7,500 square meters.

“With our two new production facilities in China and India, we can meet the growing demand from car manufacturers in Asia for our lightweight and multifunctional components”, comments Andreas Kolf, Head Business Group Asia at Autoneum, in the press release. At the same time, we are strengthening our position in Asia, which is an important growth market for the automotive industry and therefore for Autoneum”, he concludes. ce/ww
