Zurich/New York - Barry Callebaut has opened a new chocolate academy in New York. Its purpose is to train chocolatiers and commercial users. The company now operates six training centers of this kind throughout the Americas.

Barry Callebaut, one of the leading manufacturers of industrial chocolate, has opened its second Chocolate Academy Center in the USA, further details of which can be found in a press release. The New York training center for pastry chefs and chocolatiers is located in the Meatpacking district, a hip commercial center on the far west side of Manhattan. The chocolate training center is managed by Nicoll Notter, the son of a well-known family of pastry chefs. The team intends to support colleagues with their qualifications in addition to developing the patisserie scene in New York.

“New York City has a long history with the chocolate industry, dating back to the early 1900s”, comments Amy Heitkamp, VP & GM Gourmet Americas at Barry Callebaut, in the press release. “We are seeing a resurgence of chocolate culture in New York with the craft-chocolate movement and small bean-to-bar factories. We are proud to share chocolate culture and empower chefs to craft at their best”, she adds.

With the opening of the center in New York, Barry Callebaut now operates six Chocolate Academy Centers across North and South America. According to the information, a total of 13,800 people took part in the courses offered by the centers last year. eb
