Three-day fashion trade fair starts March 2 in Cairo

Cairo - Cairo Fashion & Tex, a trade fair with a special focus on fashion and textiles, will be held March 2-4 in Cairo. The trade fair has been held twice a year in the spring and fall since 1993 and is the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

The Cairo Fashion & Tex trade fair is set to take place March 2-4 in Cairo. According to a press release issued by Pyramids International Group, the organizer of the trade fair, this is the Middle East’s largest trade fair focused on textiles and fashion. The event is being hosted by the Cairo International Convention Centre in Nasr City, a district in the Eastern Area of the Egyptian capital. The trade fair is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and all the Chambers of Industry in Egypt.

This trade fair, which specializes in yarns, textiles, clothing, supplies and accessories was first held in 1993 with two editions in the spring and fall. According to the website of the trade fair, a total of 510 companies and individual exhibitors took part in the last of the 28 exhibitions so far, with 27,000 visitors in attendance at the event. Exhibitors from Turkey, Syria, Spain, Italy, China, India, Lebanon, Qatar, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have taken part in previous editions of the Cairo-based fashion trade fair.

For Swiss companies, Egypt is attractive due its large domestic market and unique position as the “gateway to Africa”, according to a country report compiled by Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE). Swiss companies operating in Egypt are protected by agreements on free trade, investment protection and double taxation.

Egypt remains the largest export market in Africa for Switzerland. According to the report, opportunities in infrastructure, the textiles, food, agricultural and pharma industries as well as the cleantech space are on offer to Swiss companies. gba
