Zurich/Newcastle/Dubai - The Emirates airline is using SkyCell cooling containers. It is now flying daily with the containers from Newcastle Airport to Dubai.

Emirates is using the hybrid container produced by SkyCell, based in Switzerland’s Technopark Zurich, for pharma shipments. The United Arab Emirates airline flies daily from Newcastle to Dubai with the 1500X hybrid container, according to a press releaseon LinkedIn.

SkyCell’s reusable hybrid containers were developed for temperature-sensitive shipments. They are engineered to handle temperature fluctuations from +25 degrees Celsius to -80 degrees Celsius and are primarily used to transport medicines. The reusable hybrid containers will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50 per cent, and will virtually eliminate medicine spoilage, which will in turn minimize waste.

According to Adam Roylance, Sales Coordinator at Emirates, the new technology enables sensitive cargo such as pharmaceuticals to be handled from any airport in the network. ce/ww
