Flughafen Zürich AG intends to open Noida Airport in April 2025

Kloten/Jewar - Flughafen Zürich AG has announced that the commissioning of Noida International Airport in the Greater Delhi Area is planned for the end of April 2025. This is the largest international project realized by Flughafen Zürich AG. For this, it has been awarded a license with a term of 40 years.

Flughafen Zürich AG, the owner-operator of Zurich Airport, has announced that its largest international project has entered the final phase of construction. The progress of the project can also be seen in a video. Ultimately, the aim is for Noida International Airport to serve Delhi as the second major city airport. It is expected to be operational by the end of April 2025. In line with current forecasts, the project is expected to come in on budget within the investment framework of 750 million Swiss francs.

Recently, the final concessions for ground handling, operation of commercial areas and important maintenance contracts were awarded, according to the information. Moreover, agreements have been signed with several airlines for flight connections from Noida International Airport.

In a first phase, the airport, which is situated around 7 kilometers north of the town of Jewar, will feature a runway and a passenger terminal with ten stands in the building as well as a further 15 open stands, and will operate with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers. In line with the original plans, the airport is to be gradually expanded to offer a total of eight runways. The concession for Noida International Airport started in 2021 and will run for 40 years.

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG (ZAIA), is responsible for the development, construction and operation of Noida International Airport. YIAPL handles the implementation of the public-private partnership project in close collaboration with the Government of the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of India. For its part, ZAIA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Flughafen Zürich AG. It focuses on the development and operation of airports across Latin America, the Caribbean and India. ce/mm
