Aadorf/Barcelona - Griesser has equipped the first CO2-neutral passive house in Barcelona with its sun protection solutions. The planning and consulting office Energiehaus Arquitectos opted for the installation of Griesser’s Metalunic Sinus venetian blinds.

The solar shading specialist Griesser, based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, has supplied and installed sun protection solutions at a former terraced house in Barcelona, which has now been converted into a CO2-neutral passive house, further details of which can be found in a press release. The Barcelona-based planning and consulting office Energiehaus Arquitectos, which specializes in renovating buildings with a focus on energy efficiency, handled the refurbishment of the building and created a completely CO2-neutral property, which is known as “ShowPass” – with the “Pass” standing for passive house. According to the Griesser press release, this is the first CO2-neutral renovation in Barcelona to have been certified by the Madrid-based agency Ecómetro and to receive an EnerPHit certification from the Passive House Institute in Darmstadt, which is a standard for the modernization of old buildings featuring passive house components.

In terms of the external sun protection, the Spanish architecture firm opted for the Metalunic Sinus venetian blinds from Griesser. In this way, the Swiss sun protection specialist makes a key contribution to the CO2 neutrality of the property, as the press release explains.

Micheel Wassouf, CEO of Energiehaus Arquitectos, explains that the solar shading solution offers both functional benefits as well as constituting a creative design element for the project. The design of Griesser’s venetian blinds makes a significant contribution to the building’s aesthetic by harmonizing perfectly with the larch wood façade. “The solar shading should be seen as a creative design feature and not merely a box-ticking exercise to comply with our obligations”, Wassouf explains further.

Griesser AG is headquartered in Aadorf in the canton of Thurgau and manufactures at proprietary factories in Switzerland, Austria and France. The company’s products are sold in more than 20 countries. ce/gba
