Kühne+Nagel, a logistics firm headquartered in Schindellegi in the canton of Schwyz, has been selected as the preferred partner to operate a healthcare hub of the IDA Foundation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to a press release, the social enterprise’s hub is located at a Kühne+Nagel facility in the Dubai South Free Zone, a strategic platform in the UAE to boost growth within the logistics sector, among other industries.
The IDA Foundation, which is headquartered in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam, supplies medication and medical products to healthcare organizations in more than 130 countries. The Dubai-based center is now intended to serve as a hub for the wider Middle East and Africa region. Under the terms of the contract, Kühne+Nagel is responsible for handling, aggregation and distribution of the products.
“Expanding our regional hub in the UAE strategically places IDA Foundation to provide fast and reliable supply of health goods to those in need, with a focus on the Middle East and Africa”, as Wendy Eggen, CEO of the IDA Foundation, comments in the press release.
Several local and international organizations that played a crucial part in making the vision of this project a reality were in attendance at the recently held inauguration event for the new healthcare hub, as Kühne+Nagel writes in the press release. These included, for example, International Humanitarian City, the Dubai South Free Zone and the World Health Organization (WHO). ce/ssp
