InSphero and Cosmo Bio enter distribution partnership in Japan

Schlieren/Tokyo - The biotech company InSphero from the canton of Zurich has entered into a strategic partnership with Cosmo Bio in Tokyo. Cosmo Bio will become the exclusive distributor of InSphero's 3D cell-based assay solutions across the Japanese market.

The Schlieren-based biotech company InSphero is now offering its 3D cell-based assay solutions in Japan. It has concluded a strategic distribution partnership with Cosmo Bio Co., Ltd. from Tokyo, according to a statement. Under the terms of the agreement, Cosmo Bio will become the exclusive distributor for InSphero's 3D cell-based assay solutions in the Japanese market with immediate effect.

With its vast network and experience in life science product distribution, Cosmo Bio will enable the company to deepen its footprint in the vital Japanese market, the statement writes. “Cosmo Bio’s reputation as a leading supplier of life sciences reagents and instruments in Japan is impeccable. We firmly believe this collaboration will significantly boost the availability and adoption of our innovative 3D cell-based assay solutions in Japan,” commented Paul Clémençon, Head of Business Development at InSphero. The partnership will be of great benefit to researchers and companies in Japan, he said, as they will gain access to world-class 3D microtissue models for drug development, safety testing and disease modeling.

“InSphero’s products embody a leap forward in biotechnology. We are eager to distribute their leading-edge 3D cell culture technology to our customers,” said Haruhisa Sakurai, CEO and President of Cosmo Bio.

InSphero is a spin-off from the University of Zurich (UZH) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), which is based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich. ce/gba
