Schindellegi/Dubai - The UN Climate Conference (COP 28) in Dubai has named Kühne+Nagel as its official freight forwarding and logistics partner. According to the company, this appointment underlines both its competency in the area of exhibitions and events as well as its efforts aimed at implementing low-carbon logistics.

Kühne+Nagel, the logistics specialist based in Schindellegi in the canton of Schwyz, will be responsible as sole ground handler for the coordination of all logistics activities on site at the 28th UN Climate Conference (COP28). According to a press release, tasks within its remit will include the construction of country pavilions and stages for panel discussions. In addition, the team will support participants in their end-to-end and local logistics needs, from international freight forwarding, customs clearance and warehousing, all the way through to deliveries to the event venue.

At COP28, more than 120,000 visitors per day are expected at the event, which is set to run November 30–December 12 in Dubai. Kühne+Nagel’s role at COP28 is not only due to its logistical expertise, but also to its ambitions aimed at decarbonizing the logistics sector, the press release explains further.

“Our current focus is on making low-emission fuels more widely available in the market”, comments Sarah Kreienbühl, Member of the Kühne+Nagel Management Board, responsible for Human Resources and ESG, in the press release. “However, our industry needs to unlock new technologies to have more and better solutions”, she adds. The annual COP events are vitally important for this reason also.

The logistics specialist Kühne+Nagel is well-respected in Europe for its expertise in connection with events and exhibitions. According to Damian Raczynski, National Manager UAE and Oman at Kühne+Nagel, the company’s status as official freight forwarding and logistics partner at COP28 “underpins our efforts to further develop this segment in the Middle East”. ce/mm
