Vevey/Mexico City - Nescafé is celebrating 75 years in Mexico. The subsidiary of the Swiss food giant Nestlé first opened a new factory in Veracruz in 2022. With the opening, Mexico became the most important location for Nestlé's coffee production.

Nestlé’s coffee brand Nescafé has been present in Mexico for 75 years. During an anniversary celebration, the company looked back on its success in the country to date. Representatives from the local Swiss Chamber of Commerce, SwissCham México, also attended the event, according to a post on Linkedin.

Nescafé invested 340 million US dollars in a new factory in Veracruz last summer. This has made Mexico the most important location for Nestlé's coffee production, according to a statement announcing the opening of the plant. With the factory, Nestlé has created around 1,200 new jobs in Mexico and is working with nearly 100,000 local coffee producers.

As part of its strategy, Nescafé is focusing on sustainability worldwide. According to Fausto Costa, CEO of Nestlé in Mexico, the new factory in Veracruz is the company's most modern and sustainable worldwide. Nestlé has also committed to ensuring that 100 per cent of its purchased coffee comes from responsible producers by 2025. ssp
