Burgdorf/Changzhou - Ypsomed from the canton of Bern has started construction of a production plant in China. The site is to be put into operation by the end of 2024. The medtech company plans to serve the market for injection systems more efficiently by investing more than 35 million Swiss francs in the first construction phase.

Ypsomed has started building work on a new production facility at Changzhou industrial park. According to a press release, the medtech company is investing more than 35 million Swiss francs in the first construction phase to “efficiently serve the rapidly growing Chinese market for injection systems”.

The new production facility is to be developed at the Changzhou National Hi-tech District within a year. Ypsomed plans to anchor production, logistics storage, quality control, and technical maintenance for further growth on the Chinese market. The industrial park spanning 439 square kilometers has already attracted more than 10,000 high-tech companies, around 1,500 of which have headquarters based outside of China.

The factory will have the same cutting-edge machinery for plastic injection molding, printing, and assembly as the factories in Switzerland and Germany.

Ypsomed specializes in medical technology and has supplied China with its reusable ServoPen for more than 15 years. According to Ypsomed, pharmaceutical companies will use more disposable products in the future. heg
