Kloten/Toronto - Swiss World Cargo has announced the launch of a new route to Toronto. With the cargo flights, the airline can expand its activities in North America.

Swiss World Cargo has launched a new route from Zurich to Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario. The airline intends to expand its presence in North America, according to a statement. Toronto follows the established destinations of Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, Newark and San Francisco as a cargo hub for Canada.

Cargo flights play a crucial role in serving diverse industries in the Ontario region, such as technology and healthcare centres, as well as the many manufacturing companies in the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors, writes the statement. For the new route, Swiss World Cargo will employ the Airbus A333 aircraft. In addition to standard air freight, the company specializes in cold chain solutions in the pharmaceutical sector.

“Toronto has emerged as a critical hub in technology, automotive, and healthcare," Lorenzo Stoll, Head of Cargo at Swiss, is quoted as saying. "By linking this city with our extensive network, we aim to nurture strong economic ties with the Ontario region, by providing our customers in the area with seamless logistics solutions for the transport of their care-intensive and temperature-sensitive cargo." ce/ww
