Bern - In 2022, Swissnex curated more than 270 events and activities worldwide. Among others, the global Swiss network for education, research and innovation organized the Swiss-US Quantum Days in Boston and New York and launched an innovation platform in India.

In partnership with other Swiss organizations and international partners, Swissnex curated more than 270 events and activities in 2022. The past year was characterized by “a re-emergence of in-person activities”, writes the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation in a statement about the Annual Report of the global Swiss network for Education, Research and Innovation. The report covers projects, ideas and challenges from the six main sites worldwide and 21 science councils at Swiss embassies in the reporting year.

In the statement, Swissnex explores the highlights of its 2022 activities. These include the network’s organization of the first edition of the Swiss-US Quantum Days in Boston and New York. In Brazil, Swissnex supported researchers from the two countries in exploring the Pantanal marshlands. In India, it launched an Indo-Swiss innovation platform that focuses on antimicrobial resistance, and in China, despite pandemic restrictions, it presented cutting-edge Swiss research and innovation at the so-called So Swiss pop-up event.

In April 2022, former Swiss President Ignazio Cassis and State Secretary Martina Hirayama attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Swissnex's new Swiss consulate and main office in Osaka in Japan. “This opening marks another milestone in the expansion of Swissnex and emphasizes Switzerland's firm commitment to strengthening its partnership with Japan in the areas of education, research, and innovation,” writes the statement. ce/hs
