Basel/Santa Ana - Avolta AG will be offering food and beverage services as well as a range of travel convenience and specialty retail stores across an area of 3,500 square meters at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, under its Hudson and HMSHost brands. To this end, Avolta has been awarded a series of 15-year contracts.

Avolta is expanding its presence in California up to 2039: the global travel retailer has secured the newly awarded 15-year contracts to develop nearly 3,500 square meters of concession space in the terminal at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. Avolta will offer the airport’s 11.3 million annual passengers “more food and beverage options, as well as multiple travel convenience and specialty retail stores” under its Hudson and HMSHost brands in Terminals A, B and C, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the Basel-based company.

Avolta is seeking to create a strong “sense of place” that resonates with passengers by integrating well-known Orange County brands. To this end, the company will turn to national brands and local favorites. “Orange County is a unique region, deserving of F&B and retail offerings that reflect its environment, culture, and diversity”, as Steve Johnson, President and CEO for North America at Avolta, comments in the press release. “Combined with outlets featuring esteemed, recognizable brands, our F&B and retail program will bring variety and excitement to the terminal”, he adds.

Avolta traded under the name Dufry AG up to November 2023. After taking over the Italian Autogrill chain from Edizione, an investment company owned by the Benetton family, in January 2023, the Italians became the largest shareholder with a stake of 27.5 percent. To reflect this circumstance, the decision was made to rename the company Avolta in the same year. The company operates 2,300 duty-free and duty-paid stores across 65 countries around the world. ce/mm
