The process technology specialists Bühler, based in Uzwil in the canton of St.Gallen, will be delivering four of its new Carat 920 megacasting cells to China. This order was placed by the Chinese automotive supplier Chuzhou Duoli Automotive Technology. According to a press release, this is one of the largest single orders for the megacasting business of the technology company from the St.GallenBodenseeArea.
The Carat megacasting cells are built at Bühler’s Chinese production facilities. Megacasting allows aluminum bodywork to be manufactured from a single cast, especially for electric vehicles. This involves replacing 70 to 100 parts with a single die-cast part.
The Bühler Group has maintained business ties with Duoli since 2021. Thanks to the reliability and consistent quality output of the first Carat 610, Duoli received further orders and increased its production capacities, as Bühler explains in the press release. “The acquisition of the first Carat 920 and two more Carat 610 was the next logical step”, the company adds.
Rapidly rising demand for electric vehicles in China has now also led to increased demand for large structural components. For this reason, Duoli has opted to purchase four more Carat 920s. According to Bühler, this will make the company one of the largest suppliers of megacasting parts worldwide.
“The latest order is evidence of our innovation power and proves that we anticipated the trend towards large structural parts for EVs correctly years ago”, comments Cornel Mendler, Managing Director Die Casting at Bühler, in the press release. This trend is continuing to gain traction “not only in China, but in North America and Europe as well”, he adds. Bühler additionally operates megacasting production facilities both in Europe and the USA. ce/mm
